Unearthed at a remote site in Southwest Greenland, the rubies and pink sapphires from this region are said to be the oldest on Earth. These icy gems have their own identity and tell the story of being buried under the Polar ice Cap, which is slowly melting to reveal these rare treasures, well over a billion years old.

This pristine location hosts the most modern and sophisticated state-of-the-art ruby mining operation, adhering to the highest of environmental and human rights standards and best practices. Gems mined here are identified as such and should not be compared to rubies and pink sapphires from any other region.

Greenland is the largest island in the world and is an autonomous constituent country within the Kingdom of Denmark. It has its own stable government and economy. Early Viking settlers gave Greenland its name, attempting to entice explorers and settlers with dreams of lush green landscapes.

We are proud to announce our allegiance to Fairmined with the launch of our first capsule collection using 14k Fairmined Gold and post-consumer diamonds. Fairmined is an initiative whose label certifies gold from responsible, traceable artisanal and small-scale mining organizations. Miners receive not only fair prices for their gold, but also a Fairmined premium which enables them to invest in improvements in their mining organization, developments in the local community, and environmental preservation.

Johanna will be travelling to Colombia next week to visit Fairmined certified mines and to meet some of the miners firsthand. We hope this new collection is an expression of our growing commitment to make jewellery that promotes human rights and environmental preservation. Visit the Fairmined website to learn more.
